yume nikki gameplay itself and its eerie settings are really nice and enjoyable, and madotsuki is my favourite main character of all time, but what i love the most about yume nikki is the way the fandom actually doesn’t know anything about it

there are so many amazing theories about what’s happening in yume nikki

people take the simplest things like a phallic object in one of the rooms, the male toilet, and the forest where there are uteruses leading to a man lying in blood (like her mentally wanting to be male but physically not able to change and thus the blood being her menstrual cycle and her emotional male self struggling with her physical self) as a sign of madotsuki having gender confusion and then the other theories like her being raped previously, being in a mental institute, being a serial killer, and tons more are all so interesting

and i think the way we’ll probably never know what the hell is going on just makes it soooo nice
